The CPHR Alberta and CTRN are pleased to jointly sponsor Global Governance Advisors’ (“GGA”) comprehensive Executive Compensation Program. This program has been designed to equip Human Resource professionals, senior management, executives and board members with knowledge, best practices and strategies for dealing with executive compensation and corporate governance. This course continues to be approved by the CPHR for credit toward their CPD (Continuing Professional Development) requirement.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Delivered by experts in the fields of executive compensation, governance, and employment law, the Executive Compensation Certificate Program spans 2.5 days and covers 11 topics. These topics fall under the areas of Executive Compensation Reviews, Executive Compensation Plan Design, and Corporate Governance and Oversight.
Upon completing this course, you will be equipped to guide and facilitate your Board's work in managing its executive and director compensation governance responsibilities. Successful candidates will also enhance their ability to supervise the compensation governance process for the senior management team. The course content is aligned with today's best practices in the Human Resources Compensation Committee (HRCC) Charter and the regulatory environment.
This course is eligible for CPD hours, where applicable.
About the Event
This certificate program combines live virtual instruction through Zoom with hands-on experiential learning through case studies, scenarios, group work/break out discussions and simulations.
Live Virtual Sessions: There will be online instructor-led modules, during which practical examples and experiences will be shared.
Materials: Participants will be provided with digital session workbooks to follow along with the content covered in each module and to take notes, as well as additional pre-session and post-session assignments to prepare for the simulations.
Peer Learning and Group Work: Participants will have the opportunity to learn from each other while answering questions and sharing experiences and observations during the modules, as well as through practical, hands-on exercises and simulations based on real-world labour relations events and processes.
Time Commitment: This certificate program will be delivered over 2.5 days. Participants will spend each day participating in the virtual sessions and accompanying exercises and simulation activities. Over the duration of the course, participants can expect to engage in open discussions on issues pertaining to executive compensation, incentive strategy and design, succession priorities, employment contracting, board engagement and your role as a trusted HR advisor. In addition, participants will spend time analyzing and discussing situational case studies that will help show how judgement is applied and technical elements put into practice.
It is requested that all participants spend a minimum of two (2) additional hours prior to the program getting acquainted with the compensation philosophies, plans, and incentive designs within their own organizations. This will help both prepare you for engaging discussions as well as help you practically apply the course material to your own organization and situation. The in-class virtual modules (live sessions) will be held as follows:
Part 1: Executive Compensation Reviews
Part 2: Executive Compensation Plan Design
Part 3: Corporate Governance and Oversight: Executive Compensation Plan Design
